Severo Rodriguez Etchart (1865-1903)

Severo Rodriguez Etchart was born in Buenos Aires in 1865.
He began his art studies at the Colegio Nacional in 1877 in Buenos Aires under the direction of the artists Aguyari and Charton.
In 1878, he continued his studding with Romero at the Sociedad Estimulo de Bellas Artes and in 1879 he travelled to Europe, he was the disciple of Gianni and Gastaldi at the Albertina Academy of Turin.
He lived in Rome and then in Paris, where he attended the Academie Julien.
After returning to Buenos Aires in 1886 he exhibited at La Casa Bossi, then he returned to Paris alternating his residence between France and Argentina.
He exhibited at the Orientalist Salon in Paris and had a very successful time in Europe, his work was very much in demand and much appreciated in Paris and London as well as in Argentina.
He specialised in portraits, nudes, still lives and landscapes.
He was recorded at Benezit vol. 11 page 1817.
